Hybrid Middle and High School

Since 2023, we have partnered with Bridgemont to offer high-quality Adolescent Montessori education in the Hill City.

Through this partnership, we are able to offer the local adolescent student an authentic Montessori education that aims to develop the global citizen in a diverse community, through a network of high-quality Montessori schools & families with an innovative, compassionate, 21st Century education.

Essential Elements of Montessori Secondary Online Education

Together, we are fostering global connections for adolescent learners via a range of courses for all grades taught by trained Montessorians.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Students are expected to attend school in person at Hill City for agreed upon days, and can also have “at home” days as desired/needed. There are scheduled times for live class/synchronous teaching and activities. This is done online through a secure online platform. Students have the opportunity to work offline as well, but they are expected to be part of the learning community.

  • Since our instructional content will be delivered both synchronously (everyone working together in real time) and asynchronously (where each student can watch a recorded lesson or work on a task independently), students will be using multiple platforms. As part of the parent and student orientation programs, students and parents will learn how to navigate online platforms that include the delivery of curriculum, texts, libraries, and video conferences.

  • Whether a student joins us at 7th grade or for their last year of high school our goal is that the students who start with us finish their high school experience with us. Our own experience has taught us that this is not always possible. We aim to prepare students every year for success.

  • We assess students with a blend of formative, summative, and authentic assessments. Ultimately, our philosophy is that all people (not just students) are different.

  • Yes, but we do not allow textbooks to “drive instruction”. We use multi-media texts to supplement the live instruction of our trained Montessori guides. They are used as a support material, a source of assignments, and a tangible guide for our students, teachers, and guides. The texts that we use are deliberately chosen to fit into a model of Montessori delivery that supports the mission of the school.

  • Yes, students will take tests and exams! What makes us different, is that we recognize that exams and tests are not the only way to evaluate students. We use a blend of assessment techniques to evaluate student progress. We also know that when our students leave our school or leave Montessori, they most likely will have to participate in testing and evaluation. Rather than allowing them to leave our school without skills in testing and evaluation, we want to prepare them for the world they are entering.

  • As a new institution, Bridgemont International School has only just begun the process of obtaining AdvancED Accreditation and International Montessori Council accreditation. We have many years of experience in school leadership and school accreditation. Our entire program is being designed with accreditation in mind. We are applying for accreditation and confidently expect to earn full accreditation within the first three years of operation, well before our first students apply to university.

"For in our times science has created a new world in which the whole of humanity is joined together by a universal scientific culture. Thus, children should learn to use machines habitually as part of their education"

-Dr. Maria Montessori
